The reality is that online scams and property fraud is on the increase, and we need to fight it at all cost. We want to eliminate the potential of dodgy advertisers and only work with estate agents registered with the EAAB who are in possession of valid Fidelity Fund Certificates.

Although there is a market for private advertisers who’d prefer not to work with traditional estate agents, we believe that this segment can now be better accommodated by low fee and online agencies to better suit a specific budget or need. It is our believe that the South African real estate industry needs more transparency, especially when choosing an agent, and it is our mission to help consumers connect with qualified and professional agents. There is a lot of misunderstanding on the amount of work done by agents, and we’d like to provide more insight and help to improve the image of the industry as best we can.

Promoting more professional estate agents

Gone are the days where anyone can become an estate agent. Today, there are strict requirements set out by the EAAB to become an agent, including a one year internship that have to be completed by new agents. As a result, agent numbers have dropped dramatically and the industry has, in general become a lot more professional. We are seeing more graduates choosing a career in property and more agents using technology as an enabler to offer more competitive services. Combine that with an increase in the number of new innovative real estate models launching and you will soon realize that the real estate industry is becoming more and more competitive, to the advantage of buyers and sellers.
