I am Alta Swanepoel from the friendly city of Port Elizabeth originally from Gauteng. I am passionate about property. I started my career in property more than thirty years ago... as an administrative assistance at Johannesburg city council valuation department and then move over to become a property valuer. From there I move over to First national bank and ABSA bank as a valuer. We relocated to Port Elizabeth where I worked for DDP valuer. I also started dwindling in bond origination. I did municipal inspection for Nelson Mandela bay Municipality. I then started working for a construction company doing commercial leasing and being a personal assistant as well as running all the payments, staff and other related issues. The company closed down due to the owner personal circumstances. That’s when I decided to start selling properties as that is what I know and I love. I am still doing insurance inspections , as well as private valuation.

There are a number of costs to factor in when selling a property – many of which are payable upfront before transfer can occur. To avoid being caught short, sellers are advised to have adequate savings in place before placing their home on the market.
Selling your home yourself and keeping the commission in your pocket instead of paying it to an estate agent may sound like a good idea but you should be aware of the dangers before you decide on this approach.
