Experience
Ratanang Maremane holds a Class II Commercial Diving License (IMCA) – Seadog Commercial
Diving School (2018), Class III Commercial Diving Supervisor License (DOL) – Seadog
Commercial Diving School (2016), Class III Commercial Diving License (DOL) – Seadog
Commercial Diving School (2011), Class IV Commercial Diving License (DOL) – University of
Cape Town Research Diving Unit (2009), Fleet Support Diver (39m Air) – SA Navy Diving School
(2007).
Ratanang was the second black female diver to qualify as a South African Navy Diver and the
First Black Female Commercial Diver in South Africa.
Her experience spans from being a Scientific Diver and Project Coordinator for the South African
Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) – Maritime Archaeology Department (2008 – 2011). At
SAHRA she gained vast experience on Underwater Cultural Heritage Research in and around the
South African coastline.
She has been exposed to national and international special projects to improve her craft and
prowess in the industry. Some of the notable assignments include: Underwater Cultural Heritage
projects in the United States of America in collaboration with Iziko Museums, George Washington
University, National Park Services – Biscayne, Projects and Field Schools on and around Robben
Island in collaboration with the Leiden University, CIE International Centre of Heritage.
Ratanang also studied towards her National Diploma in Civil Engineering at Walter Sisulu
University (WSU).
Her ongoing question to the entire industry structure is: “why employ a diver and an engineer when
you can employ an individual with the combined skills”.
In bringing about change, she says: “Very often engineers rely on divers to be their eyes and brains
underwater throughout the lifecycle of a project – however the challenge is such that in most cases
delays occur as a diver is not an engineer and neither is the engineer a diver.
This skill shortage has struck my mind to pursue the relevant and necessary qualifications to bridge
the gap. At Transnet, I have worked on a number of civil construction projects and this has further
confirmed my assertion to play a leading role in this regard”.
After resigning from Transnet in 2018, Ratanang pursued her own business which successfully
provided support services to the Maritime Industry including, but not limited to services such as
Ship Chandelling, Diving services, General Supplies, etc. When the company was detrimented by
the unfortunate circumstances of the Covid19 pandemic, Ratanang took a decision to explore her
untapped love for real estate by joining Keller Williams Port Elizabeth in 2022.

Technology
At Keller Williams Explore I have access to high technology systems which enable me to give my
clients the best market exposure for their properties and to network at large within the real estate
industry when needing to acquire properties or purchasers therefore.

Expertise
Ratanang’s expertise composes of a combination of technical skills including, Project
Management & Coordination, Construction projects, Commercial Diving and Supervision, as well
as Business Management. She is a full status property practitioner, registered with the PPRA.

ensuring consistent contact, endeavouring to cover any questions that may arise.

Personal
I have had the pleasure and privilege of traveling the world and have had all my dreams come true
except for one. I would like to open my own Keller Williams franchise and am driven by my goal.
I am a mother of 2 beautiful boys that I live for. They’re the reason I cannot give up in life.
