This farm is ideal for someone who is looking for lifestyle, and conducting small scale sustainable farming activities. It is not for commercial farming.
The farm is 197 ha in size, and is situated about 4 km outside Ladismith. Access is via a servitude dirt road from the R62.
The earth house futures 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and open plan kitchen living area. There are two large covered veranda areas.
In close proximity is cosy studio of about 20 m2 providing additional accommodation. To add more accommodation space, a caravan is enclosed and shade covered. Caravan is beautifully decorated.
There is an outside shower for those hot summer days.
Dwellings are fenced in, so children and pets cannot wander off on their own. Rest of the farm is not fenced.
Inside the fenced area there is a shaded area for a small vegetable garden or nursery.
There is an existing Eskom power point and is mostly used to charge the Lithium batteries on cloudy days.
Normal power supply is provided by 8 x 395 Watt solar panels with 7.5 kva inverter and 5 x Lithium Ion batteries.
A new 200 liter solar geyser was installed to provide hot water.
Water is provided via a borehole that is 180 m deep, with water level at about 8 to 10 meters. Water is pumped everyday for the past few years, and there is no impact on the water level or volume.
The borehole is power by 4 x solar panels. Should you wish to pump more water, then you can increase the panels and size of the pump.
During normal raining season, water is harvested from the roof of the house. In total there is 34 000 liter water tank storage capacity.
In addition to the above, based on availability, water is piped from a weir further up the river and has been approved by Water Affairs. A 25 mm is used for the pipeline and water is stored in the water tanks.
