Sole Mandate!
The discerning connoisseur’s delight.
Few things are as precious to a soul as comfort and sunshine. With maturity comes often the simplicity of design and the keeping of a home in a way that feeds freedom more than change. This house is perhaps the epitome of such, as its owners have designed the house - with a single bedroom - with such cleverness and thorough thinking, so that all those with sincerity of heart and likemindedness of intent will instantly fall in love with the ebb-and-flow of this designer residence.
On the edge of the small town of Raithby, merely 10 minutes from Stellenbosch, lies a bespoke cul-de-sac with only a handful of luxury homes. The owners share many interests and resemble a close-knit community structure, which prizes security and good living equally and without compromise. Each home has been individually designed to maximize personal taste and pleasure.
This home was designed with a two-fold mission; One, to only have a single bedroom within the main house (for privacy and freedom’s sake) but an additional two-bedroom cottage to provide sustainable income. The cottage is consistently earning its owners an average of R16’000 monthly, and about double that in the December season (full records exists including a fully functional website and booking portals).
The second mission for the choice of their design was to give utterance to their passions: entertainment and the enjoyment of their cherished wines with friends and family. The lounge and dining rooms are separated only by an open plan designer kitchen (with more bells-and-whistles and the best quality appliance imaginable) and has both a fireplace and indoor braai strategically situated for maximum effectiveness. The bar area with hatch leads to the pool, and a 350-Bottle, climate controlled wine cellar to keep your prized wines aging on. All this leads out to a patio overlooking the large pool and the great and marvelous views of the Stellenbosch mountains.
In the one corner of the thousand plus square meter garden lies the heritage cottage in the shade of a massive Oak tree. This beautifully restored cottage has two spacious bedrooms and a tastefully decorated bathroom, sufficient for one’s guests to stay a day, a week or a month. The cottage also has a separate entrance thus no need to disturb one-another.
My words have now run out, but the splendidness of this house cannot. Many extras remain unlisted, like air conditioners, a wood-burning stove, a woodshed, a storage room and much more!
